You may have heard the story: a sister’s promise to do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. That promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure in 1982 which launched the global breast cancer movement. Every Race for the Cure raises critical funds and awareness for breast cancer. What’s more, each race celebrates survivors and honors those loved ones who have lost their battle against the disease.

On May 5th, the Smile Generation is sponsoring the Southern Nevada Race for the Cure. The 17th annual Komen Southern Nevada Race for the Cure will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at the Fremont Street Experience in downtown Las Vegas. Participants can register for a 5K, or a 1-mile Fun Walk. Those unable to participate on Race Day can register to Sleep In for the Cure. For more information, visit http://www.komensouthernnevada.org/

The following Saturday, May 12th, the Smile Generation will participate in the 2012 Komen Sacramento Valley Race for the Cure at the Cal Expo, 1600 Exposition Boulevard, Sacramento, CA. Anyone can participate as a runner, walker, volunteer, donor or sponsor.

According to their website, 75% of the Race proceeds serve women in the community and 25% of the funds raised go to global research to find the cure for breast cancer.
During the Komen races, the Smile Generation will be hosting some interactive fun on facebook.com/smilegen. Fans are asked to snap a photo on race day and post it to the Smile Generation Facebook Wall using the hashtag #smile4thecure. Five prizes an hour will be drawn from 7:30am- 11:30am on Race Day - that’s May 5th for Las Vegas and May 12th for Sacramento.
